Temperature effects in plasma-based positron acceleration schemes using electron filaments

Preserving the quality of a positron beam in plasma-based accelerator, where wakefield suitable for transport and acceleration is generated by means an electron filament, challenging. This due to nature wakefields, characterized focusing fields that vary nonlinearly transverse direction, accelerating are non-uniform. These also change slice-by-slice along beam. Maintaining high pivotal application beams collider. In this paper, we show initial background plasma temperature can help mitigate degradation accelerators rely on filaments. We effects broaden filament smooth radially both non-linear non-uniform longitudinal wakefields. Using warm plasmas opens up new possibilities improve several concepts.
